Graubünden is a large Canton occupying the southeastern sector of Switzerland. It is generally mountainous, although there is only one peak, Piz Bernina, that exceeds the 'magic' 4000 metre mark. The River Rhine starts its journey to the sea from near Disentis in the west of the Canton. Graubünden is also notable as being the home Canton of Switzerland's only National Park.
The following regions within the Canton are used to subdivide site content. The Upper Engadine - centered around the towns of St.Moritz and Pontresina, this valley provides some wonderful walking. In addition to high mountains scoured by accessible glaciers, there are also pleasant lakeside strolls and interesting villages to visit. With ample mechanical means of accessing higher ground, there is no excuse for walkers not to enjoy walks above the valley floor. Map showing location of walks in this area Other areas within the Canton of Graubünden will be added soon.
